Rosalia
Rosalia Vila Tobella[2] (born 25 September 1992),[3] known mononymously as Rosalia (Spanish: [rosa'li.a], Catalan: [ruz@'li.@]),[4][5][6] is a Spanish singer. She was raised in Barcelona. Her diverse music has earned her the label of "atypical pop star". [9] After being enthralled by Spanish folk music at the age of 13years old, she pursued a degree in musicology at the Catalonia College of Music while also performing at musical bars and weddings. She completed her studies with distinction thanks to the cover album she recorded with Raul Refree, Los Angeles (2017) and her Baccalaureate-related project El Mal Querer (2018). Reimagining flamenco, mixing it with pop and hip hop music, the project produced the singles "Malamente" as well as "Pienso in Your Mira" which caught the attention of the Spanish general public, and then were released to wide applause from the critics. El Mal Querer was the first to introduce Rosalia into the international music stage. Rosalia, who explored urbano music through her albums of 2019 "Con Altura" and "Yo Ti Tu x Mi", had global success. With her third studio album Motomami (2022) she gave reggaeton an innovative new twist, moving away from the flamenco sound of the first. With the singles "La Fama," and "Saoko" and "Saoko," the album became a huge success worldwide and was named the top-rated album of the year by Metacritic. Rosalia has had ten number one songs in her native country in her entire career. This is the most she has ever achieved for a local artist. She also has won two Grammy Awards, eleven Latin Grammy Awards (including two Album of the Year wins), four MTV Video Music Awards, an MTV Europe Music Award, three UK Music Video Awards and two Premio Ruido awards, among other things. In 2019, Billboard gave her the Rising Star Award for "changing the style of popular music with her fresh flamenco-influenced pop",[18] and became the first act from Spain in the history of music to be recognized as the Best New Artist at the Grammy Awards.
