Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington, a Greek American businesswoman and syndicated journalist is an author. She is the co-founder and director of Thrive Global, as well being the author of 15 books. Arianna Huffington is a writer, philanthropist, television personality and owner of the online, independent news magazine The Huffington Post. Her birthplace was in Greece and immigrated to England when she was 16. When she attended Cambridge University, she graduated with a MA at the level of economics. When she was 21, she was president of the famed debating society The Cambridge Union' and was the very first foreign student to hold this title. She became a conservative syndicated writer after graduation and, with The Huffington Post launched a few years afterwards, she was able to create an online platform for voice that offered criticisms on political scenarios. Arianna was able to attract numerous prominent contributors who shared their opinions on culture and political issues. Arianna gained fame when she made the decision to run as independently in the California recall vote to succeed the then governor Davis. Additionally, she was the leader of a Detroit campaign to increase the use of energy efficient vehicles. Forbes identified her as being the 12th most influential female within the field of media in 2009 and Guardian also ranked her on the Top 100 Media List in that same year. AOL Inc. purchased The Huffington Post, and the post was made president by this media group. The acquisition included numerous AOL products at the time such as Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. Elli was the daughter of Konstantinos journalist father who is also a management consultant. They were very close to her father. It is her bond with her mother that shaped her. In her earliest years she showed the qualities of a leader for which she has gained a reputation. When she moved to England, she was sixteen to further her studies and enrolled in Girton College Cambridge. During her college days she joined the college debating group Cambridge Union where she became the first foreign and third female president. After graduating in 1972, she received the degree of master's in Economics. The years that followed her graduation, she worked as a TV host and columnist.
